A fews months ago, I asked Karl Erik Andersen, the websmater of the Bob news website Expecting Rain if he ever thought of adding a RSS feature to his site allowing me (and probably several other BoBCats) of reading our expecting rain news, confortably, from our RSS reader of choice. Karl Erik was interested by the feature (which other people had requested) but didn’t know how to implement such a thing. I offered to help him put up a RSS feed on his site if it was at all possible. He then, very generously, shared with me the mechanics of his page which is based on a text file (allowing him to very simply put up new links).
I must say it took months before I got back to this project but I finally coded a small PHP parser to read his text file and generate a RSS feed. I based my code on the class.rss.php developed by Marijo Galesic. After a few days of testing, Karl Erik is willing to add the feature to his site and let a few more people play with it. I expect them to report plenty of bugs to me and I’ll try my best to meet their expectations. And I’ll finally be able to keep up with the wide-bob-related-information-universe.
